Nestled in the tropical paradise of far north Queensland lies the sleepy but thriving town of Townsville. As the sun rises over the crystal blue waters and the palm trees sway in the gentle breeze, a retired man and his wife begin a new chapter in their lives.
Fresh from yet another operation, the man is determined to make the most of his recovery by adding a furry friend to the mix. But finding a small dog is like finding a needle in a haystack - they're so popular!
Undeterred, the man sets out on a journey to track down not one, but two small, adorable pups. And not just any pups - these are two wise, wily, and wonderfully whimsical dogs, who have always been together.
When he finally arrives, after a two-day drive over 1,200 kilometres, he is greeted with two of the most gorgeous, cuddly, and mischievous dogs. They are a perfect pair.
With a beautifully hand-drawn map in hand, the man and his new furry friends set out on a new adventure - one that will take them to a new home, filled with love, laughter, and endless snuggles.
So, if you're ever in Townsville and you see a retired man with a twinkle in his eye and two small dogs at his side, you'll know the story behind their wonderful journey to find each other.

Anne is a dynamic and experienced professional with a diverse background in education and writing. She is skilled in delivering high-quality instruction and creating engaging learning experiences for students. Anne is a published author of children's books with home-schooling components, experienced university tutor in Toowoomba and Sydney, corporate trainer in Darwin, English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in South Korea, remote Aboriginal relief teacher in the Northern Territory and Tiwi Islands, and correctional facility instructor in Townsville where she lives. She has strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for fostering academic growth and promoting lifelong learning. It is during the Covid lockdowns that Anne turned her hand to writing her first children’s book.
